Look Out for Slab Leak Repairs in Addison
Addison homes cost more than homes in Dallas, with 40 percent of home buyers paying around $374,000. Interestingly, most of these homes were built more than 20 years ago, with half of the town’s homes built between 1980 and 1999.
This puts Addison homeowners at risk of discovering slab leaks, which tend to happen with age and with Texas’ soil, which acts like a sponge when there has been a lot of rain and puts pressure on the pipes and sewer underground.
An easy way to tell if you have a slab leak is to turn off your water supply and listen for the sound of running water. Another indicator is if your floor feels unusually warm along the hot-water lines. Puddles around your home or even inside that are pooling near a fixture or pipe are also tell-tale signs. Lastly, check your water bill for unusually high water usage.
If you suspect a slab leak, call Legacy right away. They can cause extensive damage in a short amount of time.
Addison Gas Service
Atmos services natural gas to the town of Addison, taking care of the supply pipe up to your gas meter. However, you are responsible for any line that runs from the meter to your home.
If you smell a sudden gas leak around your home, leave immediately, call 911, and then your provider, Atmos, at 888-322-8667
In a non-emergency situation, contact us about gas leak detection and repair or if you want to replace your gas appliances. Did you know that 90 percent of Addison’s homes were built over 20 years ago, and water heaters typically last only 10-15 years? It could be time for a new water heater, especially if you notice signs of decline, such as brown water or leakage.
Atmos offers rebates on gas appliances, including:
- Energy Star Gas Tankless Water Heaters
- Energy Star Gas Furnaces
- Gas Dryers with moisture sensor
- Energy Star smart thermostats
Also, note that Legacy Plumbing offers $100 off the second water heater for double water heater installations (first-time customers).
Addison Water Service
Addison’s Utility Division maintains the city water lines. The town purchases its water supply from the city of Dallas, which gathers surface water from the Elm Fork of the Trinity River and six area lakes.
The town is very proud of its “superior” drinking water quality, which has earned the state’s highest water quality designation. Addison hires independent engineering firms to monitor its water and sewer plans and maintenance, ensuring everything is up to date and of the highest standard.
Residents are asked to follow the town’s water conservation plan, which includes being mindful of water usage in and around their homes. For example, only run the dishwasher with a full load in the kitchen. Install a low-flow shower head in the bathroom and turn off the water when you brush your teeth. But what if you are noticing that your sink or shower water is pooling and draining at an excruciatingly slow pace?
A common plumbing issue is clogged drains, which Legacy plumbers can easily fix. In the Dallas metroplex, the source of clogs often turns out to be tree roots penetrating the sewer or septic line. We have sewer cameras on every truck that can go up to 100 feet into the drain system and accurately pinpoint the trouble spot.
If you suspect that you might have a water leak or sewage leak in or around your home, call one of the town’s 24-hour emergency service lines. The daytime number is 972-450-2871, and the after-hours number is 972-450-7156. An operator can be dispatched to turn off the water on the town’s side (from the water main, water meter, or service line). If the leak is originating inside your property line, you’ll need to call a plumber to remedy the leak.
