Restoring Plumbing Functionality: Mainline Stoppage Repair in Frisco, TX

Background

Frisco is a thriving community in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex known for its vibrant community life and modern amenities. However, like many other areas, some homes may encounter plumbing challenges like tree root infiltration.

Recently, a long-time customer of Legacy Plumbing, who had lived in his home since 2010, experienced this exact problem. As a Legacy Plumbing’s Gold Plan member, the homeowner knew exactly who to call when he experienced a major plumbing issue.

The Problem

The homeowner contacted Legacy Plumbing after noticing a severe blockage in the mainline, which caused wastewater to back up into his home. All fixtures became inoperable, and the homeowner could not use any plumbing system.

Soon after, Legacy Plumbing was called in to resolve the issue.

Legacy’s Initial Diagnosis

Upon inspection, technician Joey Wong-Vermillion discovered that a large, three-foot-long bundle of tree roots had infiltrated the mainline and broken the sewer pipes. The roots had completely obstructed the system, leading to the backup and inoperability of plumbing fixtures.

Challenges Encountered

The project’s biggest challenge was managing the excavation and repairs needed to fix the broken sewer line. The tree roots were deeply embedded in the pipes, making the repair process complex.

The team also had to coordinate multiple stages of work, including excavation and inspection, to ensure the project stayed on schedule and was completed successfully.

The Solution: A Multi-Step Process

Legacy Plumbing implemented a step-by-step process to ensure the repairs were completed efficiently and effectively.

  • Day 1: Legacy’s team identified the mainline stoppage and temporarily relieved the blockage by puncturing a hole through the root bundle, allowing the system to begin draining. The team also marked the location for the excavation and scheduled it for the next day.
  • Day 2: Excavation got underway, and technician Joey communicated with the excavation team and homeowner throughout the day to ensure smooth progress.
  • Day 3: Spot repairs were made to a broken 45-degree fitting in the line, and a static test was conducted on the home’s sewer to ensure the repair would pass inspection.
  • Day 4: An inspection test was conducted early in the morning. The excavation team was notified immediately after the test passed, allowing them to backfill the trench that same day.
  • Day 5: Legacy Plumbing completed a final backfill inspection and ensured the homeowner was satisfied with the work before putting everything back as it was.

The Impact: Full Mainline Service Restoration

With the repairs completed, the homeowner could use all his plumbing fixtures without issue. The mainline was fully restored, and the intrusion caused by the tree roots was permanently addressed to ensure the future reliability of the home’s plumbing system.
